Hurun Research Institute released the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, with wealth calculations based on data as of January 15, 2024. This marks the 14th consecutive year that the Institute has published the Global Rich List.

ByteDance founder Zhang Yiming, with a fortune of RMB435 billion, trumped "bottled water king" Zhong Shanshan (RMB405 billion) to become China’s richest person. Nourished by a valuation surge driven by ByteDance’s AI business momentum and prospects, TENCENT (00700.HK)’s Ma Huateng (RMB320 billion) ranked among China’s top three.

XIAOMI-W (01810.HK) founder Lei Jun saw his wealth soar 114% to RMB220 billion, making him the 8th richest entrepreneur in China.

Separately, 53-year-old Elon Musk reclaimed the title of the world’s richest person for the fourth time in five years, with a wealth of RMB3.07 trillion. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with RMB1.94 trillion, ranked second on the global rich list, while U.S. "stock guru" Warren Buffett, with RMB1.22 trillion, ranked fifth.
