China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has announced that the National Export Control Work Coordination Office organized a special on-site meeting today (9th) with the MOC, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of State Security, General Administration of Customs, Supreme People's Court, Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the State Post Bureau in Shenzhen. During the meeting, they discussed deploying a targeted operation against the smuggling and illegal export of strategic minerals and coordinating specific actions. The meeting emphasized that strengthening export controls on strategic mineral resources is vital to China's security and development interests. Since China implemented export controls on strategic minerals such as gallium, germanium, antimony, tungsten, and medium-to-heavy rare earths, some overseas entities have colluded with domestic lawbreakers to constantly devise new smuggling methods in an attempt to evade enforcement. To prevent the illegal outflow of strategic minerals, curb the momentum of smuggling, effectively safeguard national security, and promote compliant trade and the stability of industrial and supply chains, cracking down on the smuggling and illegal export of strategic minerals has become a first and foremost task.
