BIDU-SW (09888.HK) (BIDU.US) announced that the Hong Kong Transport Department recently updated the trial license for autonomous vehicles under the Road Traffic (Autonomous Vehicles) Regulation, expanding the testing area for Baidu’s autonomous ride-hailing service, Apollo Go, in Hong Kong. Since starting road tests in North Lantau in December 2024, Apollo Go has safely covered over 14,000 kilometers in Hong Kong. With the expanded testing routes, the number of Apollo Go vehicles per road test will increase from 5 to 10, enabling the system to collect more valuable data and further validate multi-vehicle testing during peak morning and evening hours, the group said.
