After paying the deposit for purchasing Xiaomi Auto, some customers were asked by sales to pay the final payment in advance, or face the risk of order cancellation and non-refundable deposits, local media reported, citing several netizens.

Additionally, some consumers pointed out that after paying the deposit and receiving sales notifications, the order production will be temporarily suspended in a bid to ensure normal transaction progress and stability, and the original delivery cycle is not indicative. The final payment must be made within 30 days to continue production.

However, Xiaomi Auto's official stance clearly supported paying the final payment after vehicle inspection but recommended users to complete related procedures in advance to reduce waiting time when picking up the car.

Users must pay the entire remaining amount within 7 days of receiving the vehicle's final payment notification, pursuant to the Xiaomi Auto purchase agreement. Once the order is locked, Xiaomi Auto reserves the right to notify users to pay the remaining amount at any time based on vehicle production arrangements or sales situations.

Failure to pay the full amount on time or refusal to pay constitutes a fundamental breach, allowing Xiaomi Auto to cancel the order and terminate the agreement, with the deposit being non-refundable. This clause is purportedly "mandatory" in the car purchase process, otherwise, the purchase cannot be completed, leading some consumers to question it as a "unilateral clause".
