HSBC Global Research has released an Asia equity strategy report maintaining its end-2025 target for the HSI at 27,010 (equivalent to a forecast P/E ratio of 12.2x), while introducing a new end-2026 target of 31,000 (equivalent to a forecast P/E ratio of 12.8x). It also kept the end-2025 target for the HSCEI at 9,720, with a new end-2026 target of 11,250.

The broker continued to rate the H-share market Overweight, noting that unprecedentedly strong southbound capital inflows would remain the key driver of outperformance.

While internet companies faced fierce competition, innovative pharma firms and new economy sectors stood out. HSBC Global Research believed its outlook on both A-shares and H-shares had become more balanced, with valuation gaps narrowing and growth prospects broadly aligned.

The broker also reiterated an Overweight stance on H-shares, given that they were more sensitive to interest rate changes than A-shares.
