Stanchart and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) jointly released the Standard Chartered GBA Business Confidence Index.

In 3Q25, the sub-indices for 'current performance'/ 'expectations' rose by 8.5/ 7.3 points to 52.2/ 53.6 each, with both rebounding above the neutral line, hitting 4-/ 2-year highs respectively.

The index increase was primarily driven by sustained advance shipments and robust financial activity, Irina Fan, Director of Research at the HKTDC, said.

Fan noted that the foreign trade window period extending into mid-November can cover demand throughout the year-end holiday peak season.

However, importers have already held certain inventories, and coupled with a high base effect, exports in 2Q26 may see a significant YoY decline.
