NTES-S (09999.HK) announced the closure of its overseas studio Fantastic Pixel Castle (FPC), Chinese media reported. Analysts believed this may be linked to NetEase's recent shrinkage in international business investments. Former “World of Warcraft” and “League of Legends” designer Greg Street announced on Monday (3rd) that his studio FPC will close on November 17. Founded in 2023, FPC had initially planned to develop a modern fantasy MMORPG codenamed “Ghost”. Street noted that while the company was eager to complete the game, the current priority is to help developers find new employment, whether in a potential independent team “Fantastic Pixel Castle 2.0” or in other reputable and stable gaming or tech companies.
