The HSI crossed the finish line down 205 points or 0.8% at 25,952. The HSCEI fell 85 points or 0.9% to close at 9,173. The HSTECH dropped 104 points or 1.8% to 5,818. The total market turnover for the day amounted to HKD239.986 billion. BIDU-SW (09888.HK) rose 2.9%, as supported by its seven-year dominance in the rankings for AI patents across all fields in China. BABA-W (09988.HK) retreated 2.6% despite the early preview release of Tongyi Qianwen's Qwen3-Max-Thinking. Chip stocks SMIC (00981.HK) and HUA HONG SEMI (01347.HK) also slipped 1.4% and 1.5%. Among other tech stocks, TENCENT (00700.HK) inched up 0.2%. NTES-S (09999.HK) lost 1.5%. MEITUAN-W (03690.HK), BILIBILI-W (09626.HK), KUAISHOU-W (01024.HK), XIAOMI-W (01810.HK), and JD-SW (09618.HK) eroded 2.3-3%. SENSETIME-W (00020.HK), GDS-SW (09698.HK), PA GOODDOCTOR (01833.HK), CHINA LIT (00772.HK), and KINGSOFT CLOUD (03896.HK) faded 3.4-4.1%. MEITU (01357.HK) cratered 5.2%. Handset component stocks LENS (06613.HK) and SUNNY OPTICAL (02382.HK) shed 4.6% and 6%. Q TECH (01478.HK) plummeted 11.6%. Carmaker BYD COMPANY (01211.HK) slid 2%. Its peers XPENG-W (09868.HK), LEAPMOTOR (09863.HK), and LI AUTO-W (02015.HK) also ebbed 2.5-3.9%. Smart driving concept stock HORIZONROBOT-W (09660.HK) plunged 3.1%. Commodity stocks caved under pressure, with gold miners CHINAGOLDINTL (02099.HK), ZHAOJIN MINING (01818.HK), and SD GOLD (01787.HK) diving 3.7-4.3%. ZIJIN MINING (02899.HK) and LINGBAO GOLD (03330.HK) tumbled 5.4% and 6.3%. Gold Jewelry stock CHOW TAI FOOK (01929.HK) also faltered 2.3%.
