The Hong Kong Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) is investigating HSBC's electronic payment application PayMe, focusing primarily on the risk that early users' personal information may have been exposed due to default settings, the South China Morning Post reported. Yet, some users are still unaware of this issue.

The PCPD responded by stating that a compliance review has been conducted to examine privacy vulnerabilities in early versions and the need for in-app prompts. It emphasized that HSBC must ensure the highest standards of user data protection.
